Program Agenda
Illinois State Budget Crisis & What it Means for Business
Tom Cross, Illinois State Representative, 84th District
Cross -- currently Republican leader in the Illinois House -- will speak to issues affecting businesses operating in Illinois.

Government Affairs Update
Joel Anderson, President & CEO, IWLA
Anderson will update participants on current happenings in Washington, DC. He will cover a range of issues that are part of IWLA’s 2009 Government Affairs agenda, including the Employee Free Choice Act, legislation to regulate the railroads, and supply chain safety and security for food, pharmaceuticals, and hazardous materials and the potential effect on 3PLs.

Warehouse Law Update
Kevin M. Phillips, Fisher Kanaris PC & IWLA retained counsel, & T. Nicholas Goanos, Fisher Kanaris PC
Phillips will look at Illinois warehouse caselaw, particularly how new caselaw affects warehouse operations, and Goanos will provide an update on changes in Illinois employment law.

Strategies for Selling in a Recession
Chip Scholz, President, Scholz & Associates
The last year has been one of unprecedented change. It is not likely to end soon. 3PLs are faced with changes to our markets, our businesses, and, in some cases, our way of life. We have more choices than ever, and not all of them are pleasant. The truth is this: to be more effective, 3PLs must change what we do and we must change how we do things. What worked in past years won't necessarily work going forward. With that thought in mind, Scholz will address change.

The Economic Crisis and Its Implications: Strategic Options for the Warehousing Industry
Ben Gordon, Managing Director, BG Strategic Advisors Inc
Gordon will discuss the current economic crisis and outline what strategic options 3PLs have in order to survive.

IWLA's Member Value Propositions
Faith Ramey, Membership Manager, IWLA
Ramey will review the 6 value propositions IWLA offers its members. Attendees will learn about the importance of keeping their corporate LSL profiles up to date.
